We luckily had opportunities to capture traditions of Anabaptist music in Lancaster area.
On 5/1 we visited Ephrata Cloister to record their chorus, one of the oldest traditional music in the United States.
Founded in 1732 by Conrad Beissel, Ephrata and the cloister was a "new home" for German immigrants, and they created various kinds of unique cultures including their music. The Cloister Chorus Music Committee has been preserving this tradition for decades, and you can visit and hear them sing at the Saal. It's just beautiful.
